Under the terms of the agreement, METiS TechBio will receive an initial $20 million payment. The deal structure further includes up to $1.6 billion in development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments, alongside tiered royalties on future product sales. This transaction serves as a validation of the company's proprietary NanoForge platform, which integrates AI-based protein design with drug delivery system engineering.
MTS-128 distinguishes itself from conventional bispecific T-cell engagers by targeting multiple biological mechanisms simultaneously. This design aims to improve target cell killing efficiency while widening the therapeutic window and mitigating off-target toxicity. Developed through the company’s AiProtein engine, the program represents a shift for METiS from early technological development toward global commercialization. METiS CEO Chris Lai noted that the collaboration highlights the maturing intersection of artificial intelligence and drug delivery, positioning the company to continue generating competitive therapeutic assets.
