The CW-D3800 utilizes an advanced PrecisionCore permanent printhead, capable of producing labels with resolutions reaching 600 by 1200 dpi. By using dye-based inks, the printer creates vibrant, detailed results on media ranging from 1 to 4.25 inches. Epson designed the hardware for ease of use, incorporating a color LCD screen, automatic nozzle verification, and support for Windows, iOS, and Linux platforms to ensure seamless integration into existing workflows.
To accompany the hardware, Epson introduced the Label Boost software suite, a collection of three applications aimed at streamlining design and production. The suite includes Label Boost Designer for creating custom labels, Label Boost Concierge for managing visitor check-ins and badge printing, and Label Boost Shipper, which allows companies to add branding and promotional elements to shipping labels. According to Andrew Kim, product manager at Epson America, the ability to print color badges on-demand is increasingly critical for security and visual recognition in sectors like government and education, where the new printer serves as a flexible alternative to traditional, complex labeling systems.
