This shift signals a broader industry move toward renewable materials as consumer brands grapple with tightening environmental regulations and evolving supply chain demands.

The company’s 2025 Impact Report details a strategic push to scale sustainable packaging across food, beverage, and household categories. Innovation remains a primary revenue driver, contributing $210 million to the firm’s bottom line last year through projects specifically aimed at replacing plastic. With a portfolio exceeding 3,100 patents, Graphic Packaging is positioning its 'Better by Design' framework as the blueprint for future product development.

Sustainability metrics show significant progress across the firm’s 2030 goals. Currently, 96% of the company's sold packaging is designed for recyclability, and 99% of its purchased forest products are sustainably sourced. Operational efficiency also saw gains, with Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions dropping 4% against a 2021 baseline. CEO Robbert Rietbroek emphasized that this performance is necessary to help client brands navigate complex regulatory landscapes while maintaining functional, scalable packaging solutions.
