Weight Watchers Targets Medicare Market With GLP-1 Bridge Program

Medicare beneficiaries seeking weight-loss treatments will soon gain a new path to access, as Weight Watchers integrates its Med+ platform into a specialized bridge program. Starting July 2026, the initiative aims to lower the financial barrier for patients looking to secure high-demand GLP-1 medications through federal insurance coverage.

Weight Watchers Targets Medicare Market With GLP-1 Bridge Program

The program, scheduled to run from July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027, offers eligible Medicare Part D members access to Eli Lilly’s Zepbound and Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy for a flat monthly cost of $50. By leveraging the Med+ platform, Weight Watchers intends to streamline the clinical process, handling the complex landscape of prior authorizations and insurance paperwork that often delays patient care.

Beyond prescribing, company clinicians will provide ongoing support, including nutrition guidance, medication tracking, and refill reminders. This holistic approach focuses on patient retention and side-effect management, ensuring that those enrolled in the bridge program remain adherent to their treatment plans throughout the eighteen-month window.
