Dream Vacations Launches 15th Annual Franchise Contest for Veterans

Three military veterans will earn a path to business ownership this summer as Dream Vacations kicks off its 15th annual Operation Vetrepreneur contest. The initiative, which coincides with the nation’s 250th anniversary, offers a free travel agency franchise to winners, continuing a long-standing effort to support veteran entrepreneurship.

Since the program launched in 2012, Dream Vacations has awarded 65 franchises to former service members. The competition, open from July 4 through August 31, invites honorably discharged veterans and retirees from any of the six U.S. military branches to apply. Applicants must submit a business plan, a candidate profile, and a video, followed by a series of interviews with franchise development managers. Winners receive a complete business package, including training, marketing support, and a ticket to the 2027 Land Summit.

Beyond the contest, the company maintains a broader commitment to the military community, offering a 30 percent discount on franchise fees and an enlistment package valued at no less than $5,000 for veterans and Gold Star families. Drew Daly, senior vice president and general manager, noted that the program provides a clear pathway for veterans to transition into the civilian workforce through business ownership. Past winners, such as Shane Gray, highlight the support system as a key factor in their success, noting that the franchise model allows veterans to build flexible, independent businesses while remaining part of a larger, structured network.
