The recognition follows a rigorous annual assessment by S&P Global, which evaluated over 12,000 companies. Out of 16 integrated resort operators invited to participate, Sands China and its parent company, Las Vegas Sands Corp., were the only entities selected for the World Index. This achievement underscores the company's long-term commitment to its ESG framework, centered on people, community, and environmental stewardship.
Operational metrics for 2025 highlight the scale of these initiatives. Under its people-focused pillar, the company recorded 1.8 million training hours for local staff, bringing the cumulative total since 2004 to over 22.6 million. Environmental efforts have yielded a 61 percent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions against a 2018 baseline. Additionally, the company’s community engagement, led by the Sands Cares Ambassador Programme, has contributed more than 362,000 volunteer hours since 2009. Grant Chum, CEO of Sands China, noted that these results validate the company's strategy of embedding sustainable development into its core business model to support Macao’s economic diversification.
