Yunnan Floriculture Exports Surge as Kunming Prepares for IFEX 2026

With export volumes climbing 60.5% in 2025 to reach RMB 1.22 billion, Yunnan has solidified its status as China’s premier floral hub. As global demand for the province’s blooms intensifies, industry leaders are shifting focus toward the upcoming IFEX Kunming 2026 expo, scheduled to host 600 exhibitors this September.

The province currently supplies seven out of every ten fresh-cut flowers sold domestically, leveraging 130,000 hectares of cultivation land and a high-speed logistics network. By utilizing dedicated green channels at Kunming Changshui International Airport, growers consistently move harvests from farm to freight aircraft in under 20 hours, comfortably beating the standard 36-hour freshness threshold for international transit. These blooms now reach 64 countries, spanning markets from Southeast Asia to the Middle East and Europe.

Building on this momentum, the IFEX Kunming International Flowers & Plants Expo will occupy 80,000 square meters at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention & Exhibition Center from September 18 to 20. The event targets an audience of 45,000 trade buyers, featuring national pavilions from the Netherlands, Colombia, Thailand, and Malaysia. Beyond fresh-cut flowers, the exhibition incorporates sectors for tropical plants, berries, and specialty coffee, offering a platform for cross-border partnerships and technical exchange in an increasingly competitive global market.
