IKEA U.S. Targets LGBTQIA+ Support With New Grassroots Donations

IKEA U.S. is concluding Pride Month by channeling $95,000 into three community organizations. The initiative prioritizes direct access to mental health care and housing security for LGBTQIA+ individuals and youth, marking a shift from corporate-led awareness campaigns toward tangible, localized support for marginalized populations across the United States.

The funding is distributed among three specialized groups: the Pacific Center for Human Growth receives $35,000 to subsidize approximately 300 therapy sessions in California, while Philadelphia-based Asylum Pride House is granted $35,000 to cover six months of clinical services for asylum seekers. Additionally, a $25,000 donation to Indiana’s IYG will support the expansion of housing programs for LGBTQIA+ young adults.

Ciannie Rodriguez, the company's Country Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager, noted that the effort stems from a desire to foster environments where people feel truly at home. Beyond these new contributions, the company continues its long-term collaborations with The Trevor Project and Rainbow Railroad. These investments reflect a broader strategy to extend corporate resources into community-based support systems, particularly in regions where access to trauma-informed care and stable housing remains a critical barrier for LGBTQIA+ residents.
