Mitsubishi Motors North America reports Q2 sales growth

Mitsubishi Motors North America moved 23,127 vehicles during the second quarter of 2026, marking a nearly 5% year-over-year increase. The company's performance was bolstered by a 24% surge in SUV sales, as buyers gravitated toward value-focused trims and new adventure-ready models in an increasingly price-sensitive market.

The Outlander remains the brand's primary volume driver, recording 9,503 sales for the quarter—a 21.5% jump compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the Outlander Sport saw an even steeper climb, with quarterly sales reaching 8,432, representing a 69.7% increase. Executives attribute this momentum to the introduction of strategic trims, such as the Outlander LE and Sport S, which were designed to address consumer affordability concerns without sacrificing equipment levels.

Looking ahead, the manufacturer is preparing for a significant portfolio expansion under its Momentum 2030 business plan. This initiative includes the upcoming launch of the 2027 Eclipse Sportback EV, the brand's first fully electric vehicle in years, developed in collaboration with Nissan. Beyond product refreshes, the company is experimenting with its retail footprint, preparing to open its first U.S. Gallery dealership in Antioch, Tennessee, this July to reach shoppers in high-traffic commercial zones.
