Kohler Reimagines Woodlake Market as Elevated Community Hub

After four decades as a village mainstay, Woodlake Market in Kohler, Wisconsin, will reopen on July 17 following an extensive transformation. The reimagined space blends a premium grocery store, food hall, and wellness destination, aiming to modernize the local shopping experience while preserving the site’s historic character.

The project, developed by Kohler Co. in collaboration with design firm AvroKO, serves as a cornerstone for the village’s evolving retail landscape. The facility integrates a café, artisanal chocolate boutique, and expanded communal gathering areas. Approximately 80 percent of the grocery selection consists of organic products, complemented by regional goods such as J. Henry Bourbon and Drewry Farms maple syrup. A dedicated team of cheese specialists will also lead educational tastings featuring local producers like Hook’s Cheese Co. and Carr Valley Cheese Co.

Beyond retail, the market emphasizes experiential design. The LEED-certified interior incorporates natural stone, handcrafted tile, and warm finishes to echo the surrounding landscape. According to Nina Kohler, Strategy & Design Leader, the layout was crafted to foster social connection, whether for quick errands or extended visits. To mark the transition, the village will host a two-day grand opening celebration on July 17-18, featuring live music and complimentary tastings to introduce the new market alongside neighboring additions, Big Joe’s Fuel & Go and Roots to Roses.
