Global Figures Call for Urgent De-escalation in Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Conflict, ideological division, and the threat of planetary environmental damage have prompted an urgent appeal from the International Spiritual Council for Transforming Humanity (ISCTH). Global dignitaries, including religious leaders and parliamentarians, are pressing for immediate diplomatic engagement to halt the ongoing violence between Russia and Ukraine.

The ISCTH, a platform dedicated to cultivating active dialogue, argues that current geopolitical rivalries have pushed the world toward a critical juncture. The organization’s founder, Maitreya Dadashreeji, warned that selfish, myopic agendas risk causing irreversible harm to the Earth, noting that Europe and Asia bear a unique burden as home to 70 percent of the global population. He urged both Moscow and Kyiv to prioritize long-term stability over continued destruction, echoing a sentiment recently shared by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who called for compromise to secure a peaceful agreement.

The appeal has garnered support from a diverse coalition of international voices. Swiss parliamentarian Dr. H. C. Nik Gugger characterized the current global climate as being "on fire," asserting that dialogue must replace retaliation. Similar calls for prioritizing human dignity came from Ján Figeľ of FOREF Europe and Sajeda Shawa of UN OCHA. Religious leaders added a moral dimension to the plea, with the Dalai Lama emphasizing that peace must originate in individual compassion, while Cardinal Pietro Parolin of the Holy See condemned the global arms race. This coalition insists that the protection of human life must override political ambition to prevent a lasting fracture in civilization.
