AutoStore Hits Milestone with 1,000 Robots in Oceania

With more than 1,000 robots now active across Australia and New Zealand, AutoStore is scaling its presence as regional businesses race to modernize logistics. The Norwegian firm has surpassed 30 installed systems, leveraging a network of integrators to overhaul supply chains for retail, healthcare, and industrial giants.

The expansion highlights a fundamental shift in how companies manage complex fulfillment. From IKEA’s Auckland location to South West Healthcare’s logistics hub, brands are deploying high-density automation to handle rising order volumes and click-and-collect demands. By integrating directly into existing retail and warehouse footprints, these systems allow companies to maximize floor space while drastically improving order accuracy.

Success in the region relies heavily on a collaborative partner ecosystem. Integrators including Swisslog, Dematic, Kardex, and Element Logic drive the deployment of these technologies. Projects like the installation at Douglas, a pharmaceutical firm in West Auckland, and industrial distribution upgrades for Pirtek illustrate the versatility of the hardware. According to Sven Åge Hjorteland, President APAC at AutoStore, this growth trajectory underscores the necessity for operations that can scale reliably in an increasingly volatile market.
