The Seoul-based thermal management firm is betting on carbon dioxide (R744) and propane (R290) as the primary pillars for its next generation of cooling technology. Hanon Systems has already secured a foothold with its R744-based hardware—including electric compressors and gas coolers—which currently operate in more than one million vehicles globally.
Beyond current deployments, the company is intensifying research into R290-based systems to provide a PFAS-free alternative for future vehicle platforms. Vice Chairman and CEO Soo Il Lee noted that the publication serves both as a demonstration of the company’s engineering capacity and a proactive response to tightening global environmental regulations. The full documentation is now available through the company’s official portal for automotive manufacturers and industry stakeholders.
