The partnership integrates Corinex’s Broadband over Power Line (BPL) architecture and edge-computing capabilities with Plexigrid’s Bayesian AI-driven software. While transmission grids have long benefited from high-resolution instrumentation, distribution grids have historically remained largely unobserved due to the prohibitive costs of manual scaling. The new platform, Corinex Plexigrid Intelligence, addresses this by utilizing existing utility systems—such as GIS and AMI—and augmenting them with low-latency sensing and localized processing.
This collaboration bridges the gap between digital models and the physical grid. By installing Grid Intelligence Nodes on low-voltage lines, utilities can achieve a 99% estimation accuracy, a significant improvement over the 90–95% typically seen with standard smart-meter data. This shift allows operators to reduce operational uncertainty to roughly 1% and safely push asset utilization closer to physical limits. According to Peter Sobotka, CEO of Corinex, the goal is to provide an intelligence layer capable of understanding grid conditions and supporting actions at the speed required by modern, intermittent energy systems.
