Ryan joins CompTIA following a six-year stint as president of the School Group at McGraw Hill. During his tenure there, he oversaw a major transition from traditional print products to digital and SaaS models, scaling the business past the billion-dollar mark. His background in navigating digital transformations is expected to shape CompTIA’s strategy as the organization focuses on validating workforce readiness in an era increasingly defined by AI.

Jim Ryan, chairman of CompTIA’s Board of Directors, pointed to the new CEO's track record in scaling education businesses as a primary driver for the appointment. The incoming executive holds degrees from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the University of Arizona, and the United States Air Force Academy. As he assumes the role, his objective remains clear: leveraging CompTIA’s established infrastructure to translate corporate AI ambitions into verifiable, performance-based workforce capabilities.
