The initiative focuses on practical relief rather than medical research. Grants from the organization cover expenses that frequently force families to compromise on care, including travel to specialized medical centers, lodging, childcare, and essential home modifications. The Buschs were spurred to action after observing patients forced to navigate treatment alone due to an inability to afford the cost of having a caregiver present.
Funding for the nonprofit stems from the couple's Santa Barbara estate, Folded Hills Winery. Starting May 1, 2026, a portion of proceeds from every bottle sold is funneled directly into patient grants. The organization has already begun distributing funds, drawing praise from recipients who noted the lack of bureaucratic hurdles and the immediate sense of stability the support provides. To mark the official rollout, the winery held a dedicated fundraising event on May 29, dedicating all proceeds from the day to the new cause.
