bitFlyer USA Expands Crypto Trading Reach to West Virginia

Residents of West Virginia can now access bitFlyer USA’s digital asset platform, marking the exchange's expansion into its 49th U.S. state. The launch follows the receipt of a state money transmitter license in February, clearing the path for the company to offer its web and mobile services to local users.

The company’s entry into the West Virginian market aligns with a broader strategy of regulatory compliance and global scaling. Chief Operating Officer Christopher Temme noted that the move reflects a long-standing mission to balance accessibility with institutional-grade security. Users in the state gain access to the firm's Lightning Exchange, which provides advanced order types and API connectivity alongside standard trading interfaces. This expansion coincides with the firm’s recent success in Europe, where its subsidiary secured a MiCA license in June 2026 to operate across the European Union. By leveraging cold storage and multi-signature wallet technology, bitFlyer aims to establish a foothold in the state by emphasizing the safety of customer assets over high-frequency speculation.
