Central Hudson Gas & Electric reported approximately 17,000 customers without electricity late Monday, a fraction of its 315,000-strong base. The Poughkeepsie-based firm, a subsidiary of Fortis Inc., has successfully returned service to 28,000 homes since Saturday. Meanwhile, Jersey Central Power & Light, owned by FirstEnergy, confirmed that while over 300,000 customers have been reconnected, roughly 40,000 remain without power.
In New York City, Con Edison is urging residents in southeastern Queens to limit energy consumption to stabilize the grid while equipment repairs proceed. The utility had previously restored power to 166,800 affected customers. Outside the energy sector, transit disruptions persist; NJ Transit has resumed operations on most lines, though service on the Gladstone Branch remains suspended between New Providence and Gladstone through the end of the day.
