The one-year project aims to measure the platform's diagnostic speed, ease of use, and its capacity to provide actionable treatment recommendations. By automating routine screening, the company intends to reduce the time clinicians spend on initial patient assessments. The evaluation process will take place at the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal, which will serve as the official partner for generating clinical evidence.
Dr. Tara Akhavan, founder of AI4Eyes, noted that the funding serves as a critical bridge between laboratory development and daily medical practice. The collaboration with the CIUSSS facility allows the team to observe how the software performs under the pressures of a high-volume clinical environment. For co-founder Daniel Hofmann, the partnership is essential for refining how the technology supports personalized patient care before a wider market release.
