Parkinson's Foundation Adds Five Centers to Global Care Network

The Parkinson’s Foundation has expanded its Global Care Network to include five additional medical institutions, marking the first time the organization has designated facilities in Missouri, New Jersey, and Washington state. This growth aims to improve specialized access as the U.S. patient population approaches 1.2 million by 2030.

The new designations encompass both Centers of Excellence and Comprehensive Care Centers, reflecting a multidisciplinary strategy for treating the world's fastest-growing neurological disorder. The University of Pittsburgh, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, the University of Washington, and Washington University in St. Louis have been named Centers of Excellence. Hackensack University Medical Center has been designated as a Comprehensive Care Center.

John L. Lehr, president and CEO of the Parkinson’s Foundation, stated that these additions set a rigorous standard for patient-centered care, research, and professional training. Participating facilities must undergo a recertification process every five years to maintain these clinical benchmarks. Leaders at the newly recognized sites, including Dr. Baijayanta Maiti at Washington University and Dr. Anny Lin at the University of Washington, emphasized that the partnership will bolster regional efforts in clinical education and compassionate patient support. The foundation has invested over $513 million into research and clinical care since 1957 to address a condition that currently impacts more than one million Americans.
