The choice follows a rigorous site selection process, prioritizing Bushy Park’s established infrastructure and its logistical proximity to the Port of Charleston. As a subsidiary of Greenville-based Pacolet Milliken, the campus offers integrated utility systems and multimodal transportation access required for complex chemical operations. William Crawford, CEO and President of Pacolet Milliken, noted that the site’s existing framework provides an ideal foundation for companies seeking to strengthen their U.S. supply chain resilience.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the expansion leverages the Charleston region’s specialized labor pool in chemical processing. The project, supported by a partnership with Berkeley County and the State of South Carolina, is currently transitioning into the Front-End Engineering and Design phase. Construction is slated to commence in 2027, marking a significant addition to the site, which currently hosts ten industrial tenants and roughly 1,200 employees.
