STARTRADER Launches Basketball Court Revamp in Davao City

Under the humid skies of Buhangin, the ground was broken this week at Communal Elementary School for a project aimed at revitalizing local sports infrastructure. The initiative by STARTRADER seeks to provide a modern, functional space for 20,000 residents and students, marking the latest expansion of the company’s regional CSR efforts.

The redevelopment project targets a diverse user base, including 2,000 learners, 72 school staff, and approximately 16,000 residents of Barangay Communal. By upgrading the existing court, the company intends to provide a reliable venue for physical education, school assemblies, and weekend community gatherings. This effort mirrors similar revitalization projects previously executed by STARCARES in Thailand and Vietnam.

Peter Karsten, CEO of STARTRADER, described the groundbreaking as a foundational step toward creating a lasting impact on local youth development. Echoing this sentiment, Nelson Sepe Lubguban Jr., principal of the school, noted that the facility will serve as a vital hub for building student confidence and community cohesion. Following the completion of the Davao City site, the organization plans to extend its sports infrastructure mission to Lagos, Nigeria.
