Dodge Marks Six Decades of Charger Muscle with Nationwide Tour

Dodge is launching a coast-to-coast summer road trip to commemorate 60 years of the Charger, a nameplate that has defined American performance since 1966. The anniversary tour connects automotive history with the brand's current eighth-generation lineup, featuring a series of enthusiast events ranging from Michigan to California.

The celebration kicks off at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in Pennsylvania, before moving west for the Petersen Automotive Museum’s Route 66 Centennial Parade and All-American Cruise-In. The tour returns to the brand’s roots in Metro Detroit for the 11th annual MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights, where Dodge will debut its most powerful SIXPACK-powered Charger to date. The summer series concludes with a cruise to the Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals in Martin, Michigan, marking the first time in 66 years the event has returned to the state.

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear emphasized that the brand is focused on bridging generations of enthusiasts while highlighting the modern evolution of the vehicle. The current eighth-generation roster, led by the 550-horsepower Charger Scat Pack and 420-horsepower Charger R/T, utilizes a twin-turbo engine to maintain the classic rear-wheel-drive dynamics that established the Charger’s reputation in the 1960s. Throughout its history, spanning from the original 1966 fastback to the latest multi-energy models, the Charger has remained a fixture in pop culture and drag racing. The upcoming events invite fans to experience this legacy firsthand, showcasing vehicles that continue to prioritize raw horsepower and heritage-inspired design.
