Carnival Unveils Ace Class with Construction Start of Carnival Destiny

Sparks flew at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on July 10, as Carnival Cruise Line officially cut the steel for Carnival Destiny. This vessel marks the debut of the company's new Ace Class, a next-generation fleet designed to transition the cruise experience toward an ocean-centric aesthetic.

The construction ceremony, attended by Carnival Corporation CEO Josh Weinstein and President Christine Duffy, signals a major expansion for the cruise line. Scheduled for a summer 2029 arrival, the ship is the first of three vessels planned for the new class, with subsequent deliveries slated for 2031 and 2033. The design prioritizes outward-facing architecture, utilizing over 4.5 acres of glass to integrate expansive, multi-story walls that maximize sightlines for passengers.

Beyond its structural design, the ship aims to overhaul the onboard guest experience. According to the company, more than 70 percent of the ship’s venues and attractions will feature new concepts, including updated dining options and immersive entertainment spaces. The vessel will operate within the Paradise Collection, focusing on routes across the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Mexico. This project builds on a 30-year partnership with Fincantieri, aiming to replicate the industry impact of the original Carnival Destiny, which once held the title of the world’s largest cruise ship.
