Brandy Braun, the utility’s director of water quality and environmental compliance, noted that the request aims to manage resources ahead of a possible escalation in drought severity.

State officials recently elevated the status of Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Lehigh counties from a watch to a warning. This shift follows an analysis of precipitation, groundwater levels, soil moisture, and surface water flow. To assist customers in meeting the requested 11-16 gallon daily reduction, the company provides online tools, including a water use calculator and resources for leak detection. Recommended strategies range from running full laundry loads to switching to WaterSense-certified appliances.
