Roberts earned the national honor after competing against top pastry talent from across the country. Her winning entry, titled "Rebirth," drew thematic inspiration from Banksy’s Girl with Balloon, utilizing a complex profile of yogurt, cherry blossom, cherry, pistachio, and almond to evoke themes of resilience. This followed her regional success with "Purple Rain," a cassis and dark chocolate entremet inspired by the music of Prince.
Beyond her competition success, Roberts oversees product development and chef collaborations at the Glendale-based Villa Dolce. Her approach focuses on transforming frozen desserts into structured, emotionally resonant experiences for the hospitality industry. CEO Monte Marcaccini noted that the award reflects the company's broader commitment to craft-focused dessert programs. Roberts remains active in the Phoenix community, teaching pastry classes at UMOM New Day Centers and supporting the organization's ongoing partnership with Catalyst Kitchens.
