The stamps, designed by USPS art director Ethel Kessler in collaboration with Mattel, showcase the doll’s career trajectory from her 1961 debut as a registered nurse to her most recent role as a musical artist in the 2025 Women in Music collection. Each stamp features a distinct professional iteration, including a 1973 surgeon, a 1986 astronaut, and a 2019 judge. Lisa Bobb-Semple, director of stamp services, noted that the series aims to capture the modern careers that have defined the doll since her 1959 introduction as a fashion model.
Beyond the historical roles, the collection highlights diverse fields such as paleontology, robotics engineering, and American Sign Language instruction. The stamps are formatted vertically, taller than standard commemorative issues, and feature the brand’s signature pink aesthetic. As Forever stamps, they remain valid for current First-Class Mail regardless of future price changes. Collectors and fans can purchase the series at post offices nationwide or via the official online Postal Store.
