During his tenure, he managed global technology teams across the U.S., Mexico, and India. Michael Rhodes, CEO of Ally Financial, cited Mathewson’s blend of industry discipline and ambition as the primary drivers for his selection, noting his track record in scaling high-performing organizations.

Before his time at Capital One, Mathewson spent 12 years at Fannie Mae, holding senior roles in IT governance and application development. He also brings early-career experience from Deloitte and the startup sector. At Ally, he will oversee the company's entire technology and data organization, aiming to integrate AI-driven solutions into the bank’s existing digital infrastructure. Mathewson holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.
