Jessica Fickenscher Named General Manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway

A 1997 intern who climbed the ranks over three decades, Jessica Fickenscher has been named general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. The promotion follows a period where she served as acting GM, steering the facility through a high-stakes transition while President Greg Walter recovered from a heart transplant surgery.

Fickenscher’s tenure as acting manager since April 2025 proved her capacity to oversee the venue’s complex calendar of NASCAR, NHRA, and World of Outlaws events. As general manager, she will now manage daily operations for the entertainment campus, while maintaining her leadership responsibilities at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Her history with the organization spans nearly every department, including her most recent role as Chief Experience Officer and a long-standing position on the Board of Trustees for Speedway Children's Charities.

Greg Walter, who has served as president of the speedway since 2024, moves into an expanded role focusing on government and community relations. His new mandate involves serving as the primary executive voice for both Charlotte Motor Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway across federal, state, and local levels. Walter, a four-time Speedway Motorsports Promoter of the Year, will continue his work with the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Board to drive regional economic growth. CEO Marcus Smith noted that the dual-leadership shift is designed to strengthen the company’s influence in motorsports tourism and community development.
