National Women's History Museum names 2026 gala honorees

Scheduled for November 6 in Chicago, the event recognizes individuals and organizations that have significantly expanded educational access and representation in the American narrative.

The museum also announced that Kristen Kelly and Serene Williams, Advanced Placement U.S. History teachers at Sacred Heart Preparatory in Atherton, California, will receive the inaugural Meryl Streep Educator Award. The pair earned the honor by developing the nation’s first standalone Advanced Placement U.S. Women's History course, a curriculum designed to integrate female perspectives into the standard historical framework.

This year’s gala arrives as the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, shifting the museum's focus from its previous 'She Is Not a Footnote' campaign toward active engagement in educational reform. ArentFox Schiff will accept the Evelyn Y. Davis Corporate Changemaker Award, acknowledging thirty years of pro bono work and a sustained commitment to gender equity. Museum President and CEO Frédérique Irwin noted that the selection of these honorees reflects a broader mission to ensure that women’s contributions serve as a foundational element of the nation's future history.
