Vital Lyfe, based in Torrance, California, developed the Access system to simplify the purification process, moving away from the complex and expensive desalination hardware typically required for marine environments. For Florence, whose career is defined by global sailing expeditions and life on the ocean, the collaboration addresses a daily logistical hurdle. He currently relies on heavy, costly desalination setups during his travels and views the new, compact device as a significant shift for both recreational explorers and those in regions lacking drinkable tap water.
CEO Jonathan Criss and COO Andrew Harner noted that the athlete’s endorsement serves as a practical validation of their engineering mission. The company aims to move beyond niche maritime use cases, positioning the device for broader applications including rural living and emergency response. Access is currently available for pre-order at $749, with shipments slated to begin later this year.
