Registered Behavior Technician Sues Corona-Norco District Over Retaliation

Alejandrina King, a Registered Behavior Technician, is set to challenge the Corona-Norco Unified School District in court following her alleged wrongful termination. Represented by civil rights attorney John Gomez, King claims she faced a hostile work environment after flagging systemic failures to follow legally mandated special education protocols.

The legal action, filed against both the school district and the staffing agency Sunbelt Staffing, centers on King’s tenure which began in August 2025. According to the complaint, King repeatedly alerted administrators to discrepancies regarding a student’s Individualized Education Program and Behavior Intervention Plan. She further alleges that these internal reports triggered a pattern of retaliation, ultimately leading to her removal from the district and the denial of owed wages and mandatory rest periods.

King and her legal team, including employment attorney Taleah Phillips, will detail these claims during a press conference on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the district headquarters in Norco. The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages, citing violations of California’s whistleblower protection statutes and public policy. The case highlights broader concerns regarding the treatment of support staff tasked with upholding the rights of special needs students in Riverside County.
