Legrand Unveils Dominion KX III G2 for Rapid IT Infrastructure Recovery

When servers go dark or software failures strike, the ability to troubleshoot at the hardware level often makes the difference between hours of downtime and a swift return to operation. Legrand is now addressing these high-pressure scenarios with the launch of its Dominion KX III G2 KVM-over-IP matrix.

Operating below the standard software layer, the Raritan-branded platform allows administrators to interact with BIOS settings and perform safe-mode restarts remotely. By bypassing unresponsive operating systems, the hardware aims to slash Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR) from days to minutes, effectively eliminating the need for on-site technician dispatches during critical outages.

Paul Mott, Product Management Director at Legrand, noted that the platform provides consistent infrastructure control regardless of the failure point. The system is built on the company’s Xerus architecture and introduces several technical upgrades for modern IT environments:

    • Automation at Scale: A new management API and Software Development Kit allow for the automation of workflows across deployments ranging from 10 to 10,000 devices.
    • High-Performance Access: Proprietary video compression supports 60 fps performance at 1080p or 1920×1200 resolution with reduced bandwidth consumption.
    • Security by Design: The hardware incorporates a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module, Secure Boot for firmware verification, and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for credential protection.
Beyond traditional data centers, the technology is intended for use in healthcare, industrial testing, and broadcast AV sectors where reliable remote access is a daily requirement. The Dominion KX III G2 is designed to maintain performance across varied network environments, including LAN, WAN, and mobile connections.
