VetRec Expands AI Suite with 24/7 Veterinary Receptionist

A ringing phone often signals a lost client for veterinary clinics already struggling with staff burnout. Seattle-based VetRec is attempting to bridge this gap with the launch of an AI Receptionist, a specialized tool designed to handle scheduling, urgent triage, and message logging without requiring additional front-desk headcount.

The platform functions as a dedicated digital assistant, integrating directly into existing Practice Management Systems to ensure all data is logged without manual entry. Unlike general-purpose front-desk software, the system is engineered specifically for veterinary workflows, allowing it to adapt to individual clinic protocols. Clinics can deploy the technology in as little as one day, offloading after-hours calls and peak-time traffic to an automated system that manages everything from appointment bookings to prescription refill requests.

CEO Kevin Cohen stated that the product aims to replicate the efficiency gains seen with the company’s earlier AI Scribe tool. By automating administrative tasks, the system allows staff to focus on patient care rather than managing a constant stream of incoming calls. The service provides full call analytics, including sentiment tracking and outcome reports, and is available as a standalone solution or as a complement to the firm's clinical documentation platform. Future updates are expected to include expanded online booking capabilities and automated outbound communication for follow-ups.
