New Filtration Cap Targets Micro-plastics in Bottled Water

An inventor from Hobbs, New Mexico, has developed the SMART-CAP, a filtration-integrated lid designed to purify water directly within a standard bottle. Aimed at curbing the ingestion of micro-plastics and environmental impurities, the device offers a reusable alternative for consumers seeking cleaner hydration on the go.

The SMART-CAP functions as a universal replacement lid compatible with most existing water bottles. By housing a built-in purification system, the design allows users to filter their water immediately before consumption, removing common contaminants that often plague portable supplies. Its primary appeal lies in its simplicity and portability, catering to a general population that relies on frequent hydration.

InventHelp, which handles the submission and marketing for the project, has listed the device for potential licensing or direct sale to manufacturers. The prototype is currently filed under reference number 25-LBT-9734 for industry stakeholders interested in the intellectual property.
