The donor-advised fund, housed at the Baltimore Community Foundation, operates on a model of pooled resources where local business and civic leaders collectively decide on grant distribution. The 2026 cohort includes organizations such as Arena Players, Health Care for the Homeless, and Next Up Music & Culture, each receiving $25,000 to bolster operations ranging from arts production to medical services for unhoused residents.

Co-founder Alicia Wilson noted that the initiative focuses on building lasting relationships rather than simple check-writing. Beyond the annual grants, the organization is currently shifting its focus toward long-term sustainability. Members are actively working to secure $2.5 million in pledges for a permanent endowment by the end of 2026. This financial foundation is intended to ensure that resources remain available for future generations, maintaining a steady stream of support for the city’s Black communities regardless of short-term economic fluctuations. The group continues to invite both new voting members and donors to join in this mission.
