For over a decade, Skullcandy has cultivated a niche market with its Crusher line, which utilizes dedicated drivers to simulate the physical impact of a concert environment. By integrating Bose’s proprietary technologies—specifically the QuietControl noise cancellation, TrueSpatial head tracking, and the WaveForm Audio Engine—the company intends to refine the clarity of its output without sacrificing the intensity of the bass.
CEO Brian Garofalow described the partnership as an attempt to marry the "thrill" of sensory bass with the technical precision of Bose. Nick Smith, president of Bose Audio Technology, noted that the collaboration allows the company to extend its research-driven engineering into a more lifestyle-oriented, action-sports-focused hardware segment.
Beyond the acoustic upgrades, the Crusher 1080 ANC addresses modern hardware standards with 50 hours of battery life while using active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 5.3 with Auracast, and multipoint pairing. The headphones are available in four colorways, positioning the product as a competitive alternative in the premium audio space by keeping the price point accessible despite the inclusion of high-end processing components.
