Fujitsu and Japanese Robotics Giants Bet on Physical AI

Faced with a shrinking workforce and a dwindling pool of skilled technicians, Japan is turning to physical artificial intelligence to secure its industrial future. Fujitsu has launched a strategic collaboration with Fanuc, Yaskawa Electric, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries to integrate Nvidia’s advanced robotics technology into the nation's manufacturing backbone.

The initiative aims to create a sovereign collaborative control platform capable of bridging digital simulation with real-world physical execution. By leveraging Nvidia’s world models and simulation software, the partnership seeks to automate complex manual tasks that have become increasingly difficult to staff. Fujitsu will spearhead the business strategy, positioning the consortium to deploy these systems across various industrial sectors struggling under the weight of an aging population.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang characterized the shift as the next industrial revolution, suggesting that Japan is uniquely positioned to define this technological era. For the participating firms, the goal is to move beyond simple automation toward adaptive systems that recognize, analyze, and physically respond to real-world information, effectively compensating for the country's severe labor crunch.
