Rodan Energy Expands PJM Market Footprint Amid Record Power Costs

With capacity prices in the PJM electricity market hitting a record $118,625 per megawatt, large power users face a massive spike in operational expenses. Rodan Energy Solutions is moving to mitigate these costs, securing a significant position in the 13-state region to help industrial clients monetize their energy flexibility.

The recent PJM annual auction pushed committed power prices to the market's maximum, forcing a shift in how large-scale facilities approach their utility bills. Rather than absorbing these costs, corporations are turning to active demand management to generate new revenue streams. Rodan Energy acts as an outsourced energy department, handling everything from market enrollment to 24/7 grid participation.

According to CEO Paul Grod, traditional energy management is no longer sufficient for competitive operations. The company utilizes its FlexOps platform—an AI-driven engine currently managing over 1,500 MW of distributed energy resources—to optimize curtailable loads, on-site generation, and battery storage. This approach moves beyond simple demand response, aiming to align energy consumption with fluctuating grid requirements.

Looking ahead, Rodan is aggressively scaling its behind-the-meter battery storage portfolio. The firm is currently courting partnerships with data center operators, electric vehicle fleets, and investors to deploy storage solutions that address both grid constraints and corporate sustainability mandates. By integrating market intelligence with strategic capital deployment, the company aims to turn energy volatility from a liability into a measurable business asset.
