Hasbro Targets Legend of Zelda for New Toy Lineup

The sprawling fantasy world of Hyrule is heading to toy aisles, as Hasbro inks a multi-year licensing deal with Nintendo to develop products based on The Legend of Zelda. The partnership, announced Thursday, marks a significant push for the toymaker to capture the nostalgia of a franchise spanning nearly four decades.

The collaboration is slated to officially launch in 2027, though fans will get an early look at what is in store later this month. Hasbro plans to debut three six-inch scale figures at San Diego Comic-Con, offering a preview of the physical interpretations of the legendary characters Link and Zelda.

Since its U.S. debut in 1987, the franchise has defined the action-adventure genre through its focus on exploration and the recurring struggle against the antagonist Ganondorf. Billy Lagor, Hasbro's president of toys and board games, noted that the company intends to leverage the deep lore and enduring legacy of the series to resonate with its existing fan base. By securing these rights, Hasbro aims to translate the interactive discovery of the video games into tangible collectibles.
