Smartria Debuts SmartArchive to Streamline Regulatory Communication Oversight

Knoxville-based Smartria has launched SmartArchive, an AI-driven tool designed to consolidate the capture, retention, and surveillance of business communications. By centralizing data from emails, social media, and text messages, the platform aims to help registered investment advisors and broker-dealers navigate increasingly complex regulatory recordkeeping requirements without juggling disparate systems.

The new capability functions as the third pillar in Smartria’s expanding AI suite, following the earlier releases of SmartReview for marketing content and SmartAssist for regulatory guidance. By utilizing proprietary, API-driven models rather than relying on third-party providers, the company intends to maintain greater control over data security and compliance accuracy. The technology, which incorporates licensed software from Presults, is designed to meet strict SEC and FINRA standards while remaining SOC 2 compliant.

CEO Patrick Hunt emphasized that the firm’s strategy prioritizes human-centric oversight over raw automation. According to Hunt, the goal is to provide advisory firms with the efficiency of AI while ensuring that final approval decisions remain in the hands of compliance professionals. This launch marks a significant shift for the decade-old platform as it pushes to integrate comprehensive surveillance directly into its existing cloud-based compliance management ecosystem.
