The scale of the initiative marks a historic milestone for Cameron County, with projections estimating an economic impact of $168.4 billion throughout the project's lifespan. Construction alone is expected to generate $1.6 billion in activity, followed by $5.6 billion annually once operations commence. Beyond the private capital, the City of Brownsville anticipates a $203 million fiscal boost, providing new resources for public infrastructure and essential services.
To facilitate the influx of labor, the Greater Brownsville EDC has pledged $10 million toward workforce development programs, ensuring local residents are prepared for the high-quality roles being created. Mayor John Cowen, Jr. noted that local universities and colleges are already aligning their curricula to support the project. Complementing these efforts, the city is developing the 700-acre Greater Brownsville Tech Park, designed to house a supply chain ecosystem for industry leaders, including Saronic Technologies and SpaceX.
