X-Bow Unveils Buckler Interceptor to Counter Drone Swarms

Trading million-dollar missiles against thousand-dollar drones is a losing economic strategy for modern militaries. At the Farnborough International Airshow, X-Bow Systems revealed Buckler, a supersonic interceptor priced under $100,000, designed specifically to break the current cycle of unsustainable costs in defense against Group 3 aerial threats.

The core of the Buckler advantage lies in vertical integration. By designing and manufacturing its own airframe and solid rocket motors in-house, X-Bow bypasses the supply chain bottlenecks that currently constrain the production of traditional munitions. This manufacturing model, which includes deployable production capabilities, allows the company to maintain cost control and surge output to meet the urgent requirements of the U.S. military and its allies.

Founder and CEO Jason Hundley emphasized that the system has already moved past the concept phase, having successfully completed flight testing alongside motor static-fire and igniter evaluations. This performance record arrives as the Department of Defense seeks high-volume, affordable solutions to address the proliferation of cruise missiles and drone swarms. With production already underway for multiple programs, X-Bow positions the interceptor as a scalable answer to the growing demand for battlefield mass.
