The Ann Arbor-based company reported income from operations of $232.0 million, a 3.1% rise compared to the same period last year. This uptick occurred alongside a global expansion that added 209 net new stores, bringing the total footprint to 22,531 locations. While international store growth remained aggressive, U.S. same-store sales growth was modest at 0.1%, reflecting the competitive landscape currently facing major restaurant chains.
Financial health remains a priority for the brand, with diluted earnings per share reaching $4.07, up 6.8% year-over-year. The company continues to return capital to shareholders, retiring 443,917 shares during the quarter and declaring a $1.99 per share dividend. Despite a 5.5% dip in free cash flow compared to the previous year, management maintains that the company's scale and loyalty program integration provide a buffer against fluctuating food basket costs and broader economic uncertainty.
