BioLineRx and Hemispherian Unveil GLIX1 Synergy Data for Ovarian Cancer

BioLineRx and Hemispherian AS will present new preclinical findings at the ESMO 2026 Congress in Madrid this October, highlighting how their small molecule, GLIX1, enhances the efficacy of PARP inhibitors in HR-proficient ovarian cancer cells, a group that currently faces limited treatment options.

The upcoming e-Poster presentation, titled "GLIX1, a TET2 Activator Targeting the DNA Damage Response, Synergizes with PARP Inhibitors in Ovarian Cancer Cell Lines," addresses a critical gap in oncology. While PARP inhibitors are established maintenance therapies for patients with BRCA mutations or homologous recombination (HR) deficiencies, they often fall short in HR-proficient tumors. These tumors account for approximately 50% of high-grade serous ovarian cases and are frequently associated with primary platinum resistance.

GLIX1 functions as a first-in-class, orally administered activator of the TET2 pathway. By stimulating this pathway, the drug aims to overwhelm the DNA repair mechanisms of cancer cells, forcing them toward apoptosis. The collaboration between the two companies, which recently initiated a Phase 1/2a clinical trial for GLIX1 in other solid tumors, seeks to leverage this synergy to extend the therapeutic reach of standard-of-care PARP inhibitors. The presentation is scheduled for the ESMO 2026 Congress, running from October 23 to October 27 in Madrid.
