Investors will receive 76 cents per share on September 8, marking another chapter in a seven-decade history of consistent payouts for the Atlanta-based utility giant. This latest payment reinforces a remarkable financial track record for the energy provider. For 79 consecutive years, Southern Company has distributed dividends that either match or exceed the previous quarter’s disbursement. The firm currently serves 9 million customers, operating across the Southeast with a diverse portfolio that includes electric utility companies in three states and natural gas distribution in four.

Beyond traditional utility operations, the company’s business model encompasses a competitive generation arm, a national distributed energy solutions provider, and a telecommunications network. Supported by a workforce of nearly 30,000 employees, the organization manages infrastructure ranging from fiber optics to regional power grids.
