Chairman and CEO Harris H. Simmons attributed the performance to organic growth in noninterest income, which climbed 11% year-over-year, alongside strong activity in capital markets. While loan growth remained modest at 3% compared to the prior year, the bank saw a robust 8% annualized increase on a linked-quarter basis. Deposits grew 4% annually, despite seasonal fluctuations.
The bank’s financial health metrics showed steady improvement, with tangible book value per share rising 22% to $44.74. The Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio reached 11.8%, up from 11.0% a year ago, while credit quality remained high with annualized net charge-offs of 0.06%. Excluding net equity investment gains, earnings per share rose 10% to $1.74, reflecting the bank's operational momentum across its 11-state Western footprint.
