Mission Bancorp Assets Top $2 Billion Amid Strong Earnings Growth

Bakersfield-based Mission Bancorp reached a significant milestone in the second quarter of 2026, surpassing $2.0 billion in total assets. The bank holding company reported $8.2 million in quarterly net income, fueled by double-digit annual loan growth and a steady expansion of its deposit base despite a shifting interest rate environment.

The financial results reflect a robust performance for the period ending June 30, 2026, with net income rising significantly from $3.1 million in the same quarter last year. President and CEO A.J. Antongiovanni attributed the success to a relationship-driven business model, noting that the bank achieved 12.9% annual loan growth and a 7.6% increase in total deposits. Non-interest-bearing deposits also saw a 9.4% year-over-year climb, solidifying the bank's liquidity position.

Operational efficiency improved as the company’s ratio dropped to 44.8%, down from 73.8% in the second quarter of 2025. While the provision for credit losses was set at $0.8 million to account for portfolio expansion, credit quality remains resilient with nonaccrual loans representing only 0.02% of total gross loans. As of mid-year, the bank maintains a solid capital foundation, with a Community Bank Leverage Ratio of 12.22%, well above the threshold required for a well-capitalized classification.
