Tech Markets Edge Higher as AI and Infrastructure Deals Accelerate

Technology stocks began the week with modest gains, buoyed by positive momentum from Microsoft and Alphabet. The sector’s optimism is mirrored by aggressive infrastructure spending and a rapid escalation in the global artificial intelligence race, as major players consolidate their positions in both hardware and software development.

Tech Markets Edge Higher as AI and Infrastructure Deals Accelerate

Alibaba Group has unveiled its latest flagship large language model, Qwen3.8 Max, which the Hangzhou-based firm claims rivals Anthropic's Fable 5. With 2.4 trillion parameters, the model is now accessible via Alibaba’s coding platforms, signaling China's narrowing gap with the United States in the pursuit of technological supremacy.

Simultaneously, the physical infrastructure supporting this digital shift is expanding through a massive supply chain agreement. Koch-owned Molex has secured a deal worth up to $6.29 billion with Italy’s Prysmian to supply optical fiber for data centers. This 10-year contract is part of a broader expansion strategy for Prysmian, which aims to strengthen its U.S. presence. The Italian firm projects that this agreement and subsequent infrastructure partnerships could generate over $11.44 billion in incremental value by 2035, underscoring the sustained demand for high-capacity connectivity.
