The company confirmed that no injuries occurred during the Dos Bocas event in Tabasco. Simultaneously, crews addressed a separate fire at the 220,000 b/d Salamanca refinery in Guanajuato. That incident stemmed from heavy rainfall, which overwhelmed the facility’s drainage system and triggered localized flooding.

These events add to a persistent string of mechanical failures and safety challenges plaguing Pemex infrastructure throughout the year. Previous incidents include an early July fire at the Salina Cruz refinery in Oaxaca that injured three workers, and a series of spills and fires at the Dos Bocas site during March and April. One of those earlier events resulted in five fatalities, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding maintenance and emergency oversight across the company’s refining assets.
